Advantages of membership
The Spitz Club of Finland is a large club for Finnish hunting breeds. There are more than 7, 000 hunting and show members. The Club was founded in 1938, although show and trial competitions had already been held in the previous century. In 1889 the first Finnish Spitz shows were held, organised by the Finnish Kennel Club.
The Spitz Club of Finland (Suomen Pystykorvajärjestö - Finska Spetsklubben ry) is responsible for preserving, caring for and developing these, Finland's national treasures.
These national treasures, the Finnish Spitz, Karelian Bear Dog and Nordic Spitz are a rarity in that they have developed naturally without any human influence in their breeding or cross breeding.
The main board of the Spitz Breeds of Finland Club holds an AGM, which selects a Chairman annually and a board consisting of 8 members whose term of office is 3 years and who are drawn from the four areas of Finland as defined by the Club for its events. There are sub-committees dealing with different matters and as well as a sub-committee for each of the three breeds, dealing with improvement of the state of the breed. .
