The Spitz Club of Finland (Suomen Pystykorvajärjestö-Finska Spetsklubben r.y. (SPJ-FSK r.y.) to give it its Finnish title) is one of the oldest canine breed clubs in Finland. It was founded in 1938. In the early days it was organised as a branch of the Finnish Kennel Club. Nowadays the SPJ-FSK r.y. is a Club for the Finnish spitz breeds and is a subsidiary of the Finnish Kennel Club.

Finnish Spitz, Karelian Bear Dog and Nordic Spitz

 

The business of the Club, which has over 7,000 members, is the organisation of the three main sub-divisions: the Finnish Spitz-, Karelian Bear Dog- and Nordic Spitz sections.

 

The members' magazine, ‘Pystykorva', is published 6 times a year.

 

The year's main events are:

 

- the Winterdays (Talvipäivät) which is the AGM of the Club and also includes the Club's own breed Championship Show

- the Finnish Bird barking Championship Trial for Finnish Spitz - (Haukkuottelu) - to find the ‘King of the Barkers' 
- the Finnish Elk Barking Championship Trial for Karelian Bear Dogs (Hirvenhaukut)
- the Finnish Bird Barking Championship Trial for Nordic Spitz (Pohjanpystykorvien SM-haukut)
